On February 8, 2022, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a meeting (via videoconference) was held between representatives of the Association of Ophthalmologists of Uzbekistan (AORU) and representatives of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM).

KMO is an educational association that provides training for medical professionals, including ophthalmologists, on a planned basis.

Issues of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting, in particular:

• participation of AORU members at monthly thematic medical symposiums held by the CMO;
• observation and visiting professorship programs;
• holding joint thematic meetings both in the specialist-specialist format and in the AORU-RSM format;
• Conducting a 2-week internship for Uzbek ophthalmologists at the Western Eye Hospital (London).

The parties agreed to send relevant information to each other, as well as to hold additional meetings for a more detailed discussion of all issues.
